NORTH POLE REINDEER UNVEIL NEW STADIUM FOR 2016

NORTH POLE – Christmas came early to North Pole Reindeer fans this year when Mr. S. Claus, Esq., managing partner for the Noël Sports Holding, LLC ownership group, announced that the new Nicholas Field will open on schedule to start the 2016 season. The stadium is the Holiday League’s first adaptive reuse project, sitting on the site of the decommissioned Hobby Horse Factory #6 in the Tinkertown neighborhood of West North Pole.

“We’d been looking for a way to help rejuvenate Tinkertown and reuse the old factory space,” Claus said. The old factory site will be recommissioned as the new state-of-the-art Sporting Goods Factory #9, with the main building serving as Nicholas Field’s left field wall. Local residents were excited to learn the historic Hobby Horse Factory #6 sign will be refurbished and serve as an impressive backdrop to the new stadium.

“I’m just a simple toymaker at heart, so I have to chuckle a bit when I hear myself using a word like ‘synergy,’ but it’s really what we’ve set out to do with this park. ‘The Nick’ captures the spirit of its neighborhood and will enliven the community in new ways.”

Tinkertown-based fan favorite Mrs. C’s Cookies returns as a sponsor, and the team is striking up new partnerships with other local businesses such as popular artisanal egg nog café The Happy Elf Egg Noggery. “We welcome the Reindeer to the neighborhood,” said Happy Elf owner Stella Buck, whose café will run a special promotion all season long featuring Reindeer star Dancer. “Every time Dancer knocks a double at ‘the Frosty Confines,’ fans receive a pint of our specially crafted Dancer Double Cream on us!”

Designed by architectural firm xmsdesign, the ballpark is the first in the league to achieve LEED Platinum level certification. “Mr. Claus wanted this stadium to be constructed with sustainability top of mind,” head architect I.C. Pei said. “This park not only serves as a great economic boon to the community, but it will be a beacon of sustainable development that future generations of North Polians can look to for inspiration. And, oh yes, the short right field porch should certainly result in a few more dingers per year for Vixen.”

Nicholas Field opens April 4, 2016 when the Reindeer welcome the Emerald Island Shillelaghs.
